Uniqlo +J Fall Winter 2011/12 Campaign

And so this will be the last + J by Uniqlo campaign and collection.
Jil Sander's collaboration with Uniqlo has been a constant striving for respecting her own codes : sobriety, softness, quality.
We will miss this innovative yet classical impulse applied to the giant market.
New collaborations, as fruitful and profitable (for both parts, we hope), would be more than welcome.
Aesthetic ambition has to be the real target for ambitious retailers.
Campagne André Automne-Hiver 2011/12
For a few seasons now, the work of Ilaria Orsini for André campaigns has caught our attention. We discussed the colors (for this summer it was soft candy or pale watercolors), the simplicity, the light and the seductive appeal of all the visuals.
And for this Fall and Winter collection we couldn't resist anymore :
We haven't found the exact reason, maybe the Godard like casting and art direction (sixties feeling plus mischievous twist), the so 'this is (for) right now' stylism (shoes are so well paired with mountain sweaters) or maybe we are just turned on by autumn leaves (in huge numbers, see here).
And for this Fall and Winter collection we couldn't resist anymore :

Bruuns Bazaar Spring Summer 2012 Collection
BRUUNS BAZAAR SS12
Jeudi dernier a défilé à Copenhague la première collection de Bruuns Bazaar réalisée sous la direction artistique de Rebekka Bay, qui présidait jusqu’alors à la destinée de COS. Cette dernière a su insuffler à la marque danoise ce minimalisme, qu’elle qualifie de « japonisant », qui caractérise par excellence la ligne sophistiquée du fabricant suédois H & M.
L’orientalisme qu’elle évoque comme source d’inspiration se rapporte sans aucun doute à la pureté des formes et des matières, Rebekka Bay affectionnant tout particulièrement la popeline, qui lui permet de dessiner des coupes architecturées.
Les vêtements qui paraissent (de loin) d’une simplicité extrême se révèlent cependant plus travaillés et plus habillés dans les détails : poches ton sur ton plaquées ou zippées, vestes sans revers au col plongeant, autant d’éléments empruntés au tailoring qui viennent structurer une collection en apparence décontractée.
Last Thursday took place in Copenhagen the fashion show introducing the first Bruuns Bazaar collection designed under the artistic direction of Rebekka Bay who presided until then over the destiny of COS. She has managed to imbue the Danish brand with that minimalism, she calls « Japanese », which par excellence characterizes the sophisticated line of Swedish manufacturer H & M.
This orientalism she mentions as an inspiring influence undoubtedly refers to the purity of form and materials, since Rebekka Bay is particularly fond of poplin, which allows her to design architectured cuts.
The clothes that (by far) seem to be extremely simple, however turn out to be more finely worked and elaborate in the details : patch or zipped pockets in matching tones, jackets without lapels and with plunging neckline, all of which, borrowed from the tailoring, manage to structure a seemingly casual collection.
L’alternance des longueurs – de l’ultra-court d’une minijupe presque entièrement dissimulée sous une veste longue à la combinaison allongeant la silhouette – et des volumes – entre lignes près du corps et fluidité de coupes plus évasées – instaure une sensualité subtile.
Alternating lengths – from the ultra-short miniskirt almost completely hidden under a long jacket to the jumpsuit extending the figure – and volumes – between lines close to the body and more flowing and flared cuts – bring a subtle sensuality.
La palette de couleurs, tout d’abord restreinte à des tons neutres – noir, blanc, beige et bleu marine – abandonne pareillement ce leitmotiv du minimalisme scandinave en adoptant progressivement des tons pastels – nacre, sable, moutarde, puis peach-cream – pour enfin s’illuminer de corail.
The color palette, first limited to neutral tones – black, white, beige and navy – similarly gives up this leitmotiv of Scandinavian minimalism by gradually adopting pastel colors – pearl, sand, mustard, and peach-cream – to finally light up with coral.
Le stylisme du défilé, qui a su organiser ces subtiles variations, de même que la qualité du casting (Agnes Karlsson, que nous avions repérée au festival de Hyères, a ouvert et fermé le défilé) ont permis de donner sa dimension à cette première collection renouvelant ainsi l’esprit de Bruuns Bazaar.
The styling of the show, which has organized these subtle variations, as well as the quality of the casting (Agnes Karlsson, whom we spotted at the Hyères Fashion Festival, opened and closed the show) have allowed to give its dimension to this first collection renewing in this way the spirit of Bruuns Bazaar.
