Maydele: J.W. Anderson Pre-fall 2013 Collection

What we wrote about J.W. Anderson a few weeks ago still applies to the new collection he designed for next pre-fall. Very similar to the fall winter 2013/14 menswear collection (some pieces are even exactly the same in both collections), it shows Mr. Anderson's desire to build a new universal ready-to-wear that would cross gender and maybe taste to tend only to avant-garde.
This very feminine collection is nevertheless built on strong foundations with reminiscences of the sixties' classic women's suit outfit (cardigan over jumper + miniskirt), and with borrowings to the menswear tailoring (pinstripe suit). Futurism appears through the sci-fi use of leather, and the pieces made of boiled wool evoke these little dolls and puppets children are making with felt.
Neutral colours vs. naive patterns, neo-amish austerity vs. londonesque playful mood, here are the two characteristic worlds explored by J.W. Anderson.
We sometimes think of a neo-sci-fi young woman and remember the movie directed by Charles Belmont in 1968 and inspired by L'Ecume des Jours de Boris Vian.
It could indeed be interesting to see the creations designed by J.W. Anderson appearing in a movie - and in this way to know if they are able to enter another world.
